Born between December 22 and January 19, Capricorn is widely misunderstood – with a astrological reputation as dour killjoys; more concerned about protocol than treating life as a fun experience. Nothing could be farther from the truth – yes, Capricorn is a bit of a stickler for having things done right, but underneath they are passionate, artistic and ready to party along with the best. Let’s explore Capricorn characteristics, as usual beginning with the overlap: the Sagittarius-Capricorn cusp.
People born in the week beginning December 19th, are ruled by both expansive Jupiter and contractive Saturn. This means that they are subject to a contradictory pushing and pulling. Jupiter being quite a party animal whereas Saturn would rather finish their term paper. It’s a challenge for these cusps, and those who are successful learn how to integrate both factors.
This combination produces highly intuitive individuals. They learn to trust their gut feelings, knowing instinctively which is the right choice. They often have difficulty expressing themselves and are more likely to do it in person, rather than in writing or on the phone.
Sag-Cap cuspers care nothing for the opinion of other people and don’t expect approval, so when they receive it, they are quietly pleased. This non-expectancy means that they have a high level of personal freedom. They choose to have few friends, restricting their circle to those they feel are genuine and true.
Partners of this group, understand that they need time alone, and also that they need encouragement to shine socially. Relationships are usually long-lasting and private.
Capricorn 1s are born between December 26 and January 2. People born in this week are naturally authoritative. They seem to to take control of whatever situation they are in, whether it be at home or in the boardroom.
They are highly opinionated and expect others to listen. This can lead to problems within families as their children will usually rebel against what they see as dogma, and the parent sees as structure. Capricorn 1s have to learn to be flexible about rules otherwise they can lead to deep rifts within the family.
Capricorn 1s have very strong internal moral codes, particularly relating to honesty and fairness. This means when confronted by less than high standards in others, they can cut the tie without a moment’s thought.
This easy severing of relationships carries over into their personal life, where unwitting prospective partners will find themselves dumped with no explanation. Capricorn 1s feel they don’t have to explain or justify their decisions because anyone found to be less than honorable doesn’t deserve one more second of their time. Once they are in a settled partnership, it’s usually for life. Their life partners are usually their best friend.
The week, January 3 to 9, is the realm of Capricorn 2. Those born at this time have drive and determination, alongside ambition and clear goals, making them one of the most successful groups in society. Their capacity for hard work is second to none and, if they fail, it won’t be for lack of trying.
Dig a little deeper beneath these pragmatic characteristics and you’ll find a person who has layers of interests. From philosophy to spirituality, Capricorn 2 is no stranger to radical ideas.
While ‘good’ Capricorn 2s are highly motivated and open, there are some who are manipulative and unscrupulous. Their highly developed ability to ferret out weakness can make them a dangerous enemy. They are masters of illusion, making the false appear true and the unreal, real.
Capricorn 2s are equally happy with a partner or living on their own, although their preference is to have someone to share their trials and tribulations. However, their mate needs to understand that Cappie 2’s main priority will always be their work. It is not unusual for them to discover their future spouse among their coworkers. Capricorn 2’s determination not to admit failure means that marriages often last for life.
Born between January 10 and 16, this person is slightly less ambitious than other Capricorns. They are confident and secure in their own worthiness (at least at a surface level – despite appearances, Capricorn 3 may suffer deep down insecurities that they only come to terms with in later life) that they don’t feel it necessary to prove themselves to the world. Often, though, they will naturally rise to the top of their chosen profession.
Capricorn 3 tends to model themselves on someone, possibly a parent, who has great influence over them when young. There is a tendency to judge others against this idea of the perfect person. The young Cappie 3 has an almost black and white view of the world. Usually they overcome this in maturity.
Carrying a deep-rooted caring nature, it often falls to Capricorn 3 to take care of ailing or elderly relatives. Their moral compass will not allow them to shirk their duty, and means the possibility of them giving up their life to care for another is a very real one.
If allowed to follow their own path, Capricorn 3s are playful, charismatic, and fun to be with. Like other Capricorns, they have a small circle of friends but they enjoy the security of their company and feel they can be themselves.
Capricorn 3 chooses a partner who inspire and uplift them, particularly after a difficult day at work. Capricorn 3 must be careful of being slightly insensitive as they can hurt the ones who love them without realizing it.
