Taurus April 20 – May 20
Taurus is an earth sign and therefore, thrives best in a stable environment. You enjoy hard work and reaching your goals. Stress triggers for Taurus are taking on more than you can cope with, failing at reaching a target, and feeling out of sync with your surroundings. Stress can manifest as a temporary disregard for your safety. Hence, Taureans often suffer minor accidents when under duress. Your emotions rise to the surface, and, rather than express your discomfort openly, Taureans will try to alleviate it by being scathing or sarcastic to other people. To cope with stressful situations, Taurus should carve out sufficient blocks of time to spend outdoors, in the garden or on a country walk. Being close to nature will soothe your anxiety and calm you back into your usual steady self.
Gemini May 21 – June 20
Gemini has trouble sitting still and relaxing. You thrive in stressful situations that would floor the rest of us. Your mercury minds and tendency to dart from one task to another are merely Gemini in action. However, there are times when you are running on fumes, and it is important to recognize when that is happening before you reach the point of burn-out and nervous exhaustion. Your emotional response to stress means that you will sink into a morass of negative thinking, usually at night, which prevents you recharging your batteries, leading to more stress. You need a way to get off the stress-roundabout. Stop for a moment and consider doing something completely different. Walk on a breezy beach and let the wind sweep your ever-churning thoughts away, climb a tree and read for an hour, hike up a hill and meditate at the top – anything that takes you out of yourself.
Cancer June 21 – July 22
Cancerian people can deal with most problems until it comes to their family. Nothing upsets and stresses you out more than a family crisis. And when one crisis leads to another, you become increasingly fragile and insecure. The worst thing for you is hostility or confrontation within your circle of loved ones. When this sort of stress occurs, you have a tendency to worry at it, only taking a break to cry. You have to realize that confrontation is one way that issues are brought into the open. Then the best way to deal with them is to talk until the trouble is resolved. So don’t keep your pain to yourself, reach out and share your problems. You’ll feel a lot better.
Leo July 23 – August 22
Leo loves work; they love challenges; their eternal optimism keeps stress and depression at bay. However, Leo, you can work too hard, and take on too much until your biggest stressor kicks in – lack of time. You hate feeling that pressure of too much to do and not enough time to get it all done. Your emotional reaction to feeling this way is to simply ratchet yourself up a notch and keep going. Stop. You don’t have to keep striving and pushing yourself to superhuman efforts. Sit down before you fall. No one on their deathbed ever regretted not spending enough time at the office. Life is about more than achievement and glory. Take a break, wind down and relax.
Virgo August 23 – September 22
Virgo starts slowly; they are joyful in childhood and happy as teens. They take on more responsibility as they get older. And then more and more. The whole world begins to weigh them down. Life becomes a plod. You are more concerned with other people’s well-being than your own. You could keep going – you have an enormous capacity to shoulder burdens – but this is not going to help you, or those who depend on you. Remember how delightful life was when you were a kid? Schedule a break, meet up with friends, go to a party and have some fun. You need to laugh.
Libra September 23 – October 22
Libra, you are so well-balanced and calm. Some might even say that you are set in your ways. Your problems begin when changes occur or decisions have to be made. Nothing stresses you more than to be faced with choices. If other people are the catalyst for these changes, then your emotional response is often resentment and slow-burning anger. You have to accept that risk-taking is part of life and that not all change is bad. Shake off the feeling that other people are living your life for you, take back control and make that decision. Embrace the new experience. You can always make corrections or change direction if necessary.
Scorpio October 23 – November 21
Scorpio has a dutiful nature. You often take on responsibilities and burdens that weigh you down. Gamely you keep going, refusing offers of help because you think you can and should do it all. There is something that makes you think you deserve to be punished. Watch out; you are in danger of becoming a martyr. Not only are you making yourself unhappy, but you are also making the people around you miserable. There is nothing wrong or bad in asking for help. You need some relief from the struggle, so go out, indulge that dark side, let your hair down and have some fun.
Sagittarius November 22 – December 21
There is nothing more important to a Sagittarian than freedom. Knowing you can change your mind at any time. Therefore, there is nothing worse than feeling hemmed in, caught in a trap, stuck on a tread wheel. You are okay with responsibilities; it’s the feeling that you can’t put them aside occasionally that stresses you out. Emotionally, you feel depressed and miserable. You need a change. Have a vacation, change your job, or simply change your routine. Bring choice and change back on the menu, even if it is as simple as having a beach party in your living room.
Capricorn December 22 – January 19
Cappies thrive on routine. To you, a routine is a framework that enables you to live freely. ‘I’m getting things done’ is a victory refrain. The trouble begins when you are derailed for some reason. When your routine is interrupted, and more tasks are loaded on to you. You still cope, of course, but not without feeling that there’s not enough time, or there’s too much to do. You Capricornians need to hold on to the thought that you always get it sorted. It will help if you make lists for yourself. Put stress aside, take a deep breath and keep going. You can rest later when you’ve crossed everything off the list.
Aquarius January 20 – February 18
Aquarians get so used to tension and stress that it is part of who they are. They are on a particular path, and they will not be diverted from the destination. Your problem is that there is just too much going on. Look around you right now – is your immediate environment cluttered? Does your work consist of a hundred small (and not so small) daily tasks? Center yourself and feel what’s going on within. Can you decipher how your emotions are dictating your physical reality? That’s stress. Take some time out, reorganize your life. Jettison some of those tasks and declutter your home. And for goodness sake, get some sleep.
Pisces February 19 – March 20
As a water sign, Pisces are emotional people. They feel pain deeply, both their own and other people’s. They smile bravely and get through their day, but once alone, they are subject to the ebb and flow of their moods. Dealing with stress often causes them to turn to addictive habits. Pisceans have a habit of diving into their past, reliving the episodes that caused them the most pain and dragging them back into the present. The key to dealing with this is acceptance. Accept that these things happened and that they are part of what makes you unique. If you can talk to someone about it, all the better. An alternative is to write it all out until the pain recedes. Heart therapy is what you need.
Aries March 21 – April 19
Stress? What stress? Typical Aries, always on the move. The more projects you are involved in, the better. Stress occurs for you when you are not doing stuff. You hate the feeling of being underused and inactive. Stress manifests in the form of frustration, pent-up energy, and irritation. Headache starting? That’s stress. So get up and get outside. Get another project started. Even if you promised your partner you would relax this weekend. Explain that you need to expend some energy or you get antsy. Move to diffuse frustration and release stress.
