The zodiac sign of Leo applies to people born between July 23rd to August 22nd. We’re taking a close look at this lion-hearted personality by delving into Leo characteristics – good and bad. And, as always, don’t forget that Leo may figure as your moon or ascendant sign.
The Cancer-Leo Cusp
The zodiac signs are defined by the date the Sun moves into the relevant portion of the ecliptic. There are a few days at the end and beginning of each transition where a person shares traits belonging to the previous sign. In this case, Cancer is the preceding sign. July 19th to 25th is the Cancer-Leo cusp.
People born in this week oscillate between Cancer and Leo. At times, they will display the watery tendencies of Cancer, at others they will be typical fiery Leo. The mature Cancer-Leo always recognizes which influence holds sway and balance their lives accordingly. Partners and close friends of the ‘cusper’ learn to assess the current mood before engaging in any meaningful interaction.
Characteristics of Cancer-Leo cusp are dramatic mood swings and a tendency to stress out. Balancing those traits is their ability to apply themselves diligently, and also to work well in a team. This week brings forth people who are willing to take risks. Like all Leos, they love excitement and cannot stand the same old routine for too long before they have to break out. Their less happy traits can mean they block emotions, succumb to addictive personality disorders, and have a propensity toward depression or even manic depression.
In matters of love and romance, Cancer-Leo needs to create a good balance of stability and still have opportunities to explore. Their partner must understand this complexity. They provide the stabilizer wheels of the relationship, while allowing Cancer-Leo to indulge in the excitement they crave.
July 26th to August 2nd produces the strongest individuals of all the signs. The craving for excitement matures into an intense need to prove their abilities in their chosen field. Most Leos born in this week are competitive and determined. There are a few who discover their needs are not served by chasing a career but, instead, focus on self-improvement. That’s the nice thing about this group – they never believe they are superior despite their confidence. There is always room for improvement.
Working or living with a Leo 1 presents its own challenges. Leo 1s have particularly high standards – luckily they apply them mainly to themselves. They are aware that everyone has limitations, and they are tolerant of those limitations in others.
Leo 1s must seriously consider whether a settled relationship and a family are right for them. Their loyalty is never in doubt; it’s their need for high octane living that could be the problem. To make a success of their personal and family life, Leo 1s have to learn to set aside their more demanding egotistical characteristics. They must understand that children thrive in a stable atmosphere. As lovers, Leo 1s excel, and it might be more rewarding for them to remain single.
August 3rd to August 10th brings forth those who are stimulated by challenge, and who have also learned that they do not possess superpowers. Leo 2s are mature, grounded, patient and stubborn. They are logical beings who sometimes ignore the fact they have a strong intuition which longs to be heard. Leo 2s can endure prolonged tests of resolve and character. They have vast reserves of inner strength. So much so, they are able to continue in uncomfortable situations in which most others would give up.
Leo 2s are at their best when they recognize their tendency to dominate, and at their worst when they go down the route of self-blame. They must control their energy or it may express itself in undesirable ways.
Leo 2s are loyal and faithful. They are tenacious and bold. Their friends and partners need to know that Leo 2 is best left to work out problems by themselves. They should also know that Leo2, while champion of the underdog, is not particularly empathetic. They aren’t fond of the emotional side of human life, although a sensual partner is highly valued.
August 11th to August 18th is the birth week of great leaders and people who excel in their chosen field. Leo 3s are capable of responsibility, accountability and organization. Thus they make excellent managers and CEOs. Their innate leadership skills should be valued and nurtured. They have a way of inspiring, yet controlling their workforce. They are also not afraid of getting on with the job in hand, never seeing themselves as being superior. Leo 3 is the person you want in your organization when prospects are looking dire. Leo 3 has the strength and courage to take risks and make the necessary cuts which will get a business thriving again.
Leo 3 has a tendency to ignore the feelings of other people in their quest to get their own way. This can make people dislike them. Yet, Leo 3 also knows how to inspire loyalty in others, so they should focus on that ability and try to temper it with consideration.
In love, Leo 3s exude a powerful charisma. They are kind and generous to those they care about. In fact, occasionally they become blind to the faults of close family members and, as a consequence, things can go wrong. Partners of Leo 3s become used to their intensity and understand their tension needs a release, sometimes in the form of a temper explosion. Leo 3s aren’t good at seeing situations from their partner’s perspective.
