Alberto Gonzales has stated that he is not worried about being prosecuted for the torture that took place under his tenure as Attorney General of the United States.
This is a man who bastardized the office of Attorney General and turned it to the political wing of the Bush administration. It is his opinion that the torturing was done legally because of the legal opinions from the Department of Justice. I’m just not sure how an opinion make something legal. I guess if enough people tell the president that it’s legal, and it’s legal.
That almost sounds like Richard Nixon saying if the president does it, then it’s legal. I have also read today that Donald Rumsfeld will be involved in an investigation of the legality of the torturing as much for was done under his jurisdiction as well. It is my opinion they are going to have a hard time explaining what valid results come out of torturing without using the guise of national security. The people surrounding the Iraq war should all be in prison as far as I’m concerned. Paul Wolfowitz, Perle and the rest of the should be rounded up and sat down in prison to reflect on the number of people they have killed. Read the rest of this entry »
