Sagittarius is a flutter-bug when it comes to relationships. Their fiery nature causes them to set their sights on a target, do everything they need to do to achieve the conquest but often, almost inevitably, the fire turns into a glowing ember. At that point, the relationship will settle into a comfortable routine, or it will gently burn itself out. Yet, people born in different weeks of the cycle approach love in different ways. Let’s examine more closely: Sagittarius: love and relationships. We’re starting with the Scorpio—Sagittarius cusp.
Scorpio—Sagittarius Cusp November 19—24
Deep and dark Scorpio meets outgoing Sagittarius. This is a recipe for a revolutionary personality. It sets them apart from family, and sometimes their peers. It makes them more likely than most to set aside family ties and rush off to join a group with an ideology closer to their own. Pushing against authority is their specialty. In extreme cases, their close family may never see or hear of them again.
Friendships can become more important than family, particularly those whom Scorpio–Sagittarius establishes a deep connection. No act of kindness is forgotten. They also prefer to base their working life on such close relationships. It’s a question of trust.
Romance is a bit of a game in their earlier years. They flit from one partner to the other. Settling down is not a main priority, and they prefer short-term to long-term, as the thought of commitment is too awful to bear. However, sometimes the opposite is true and they rush into an early marriage, which almost always is doomed. Sex and personal intimacy is important to this cusper, and any relationship where those factors fade in importance is not likely to hold a Scorpio-Sagittarian for very long.
Sagittarius 1 November 25—December 2
Independent of mind and spirit, Sagittarius 1 is hard to pin down. They push against convention with great vigor. Their yearning for autonomy over-rules any desire for a permanent relationship, at least in the early years of adulthood. Their great goal is always expanding; they are always seeking a bigger, better life.
The one big thing for Sagittarius 1 in any relationship is respect. If they feel they aren’t getting any, they’ll either rail in frustration, or walk away. They have a strict moral code which they expect others to honor implicitly.
In personal relationships they are unable to deal with negative criticism and can harbor a grudge. In extreme cases, they’ll blow up; their capacity for rage knows no boundaries. Those who know them well will be able to recognize the signs that indicate unleashed fury may be on the horizon and take prudent steps to avoid being caught in the thunderstorm of anger.
Family relationships are important to Sagittarius 1 so friendships are restricted to one or two close individuals. There will usually be one person, either family member or friend, with whom they feel relaxed enough to share their innermost thoughts. If this person should ever betray them, Sagittarius 1 would be devastated.
Despite their need for independence, stability is essential for Sagittarius 1 in a love relationship. They do better with someone with a consistent and reliable temperament to act as a foil and an anchor to their own. Romantic liaisons, whether short or long-term are usually intense and demanding.
Sagittarius 2 December 3—10
Sagittarius 2 has a more mature outlook than those born in the foregoing weeks. They have a confidence that says, “I don’t care what you think, I’m going to live the way I choose. Take it or leave it.” They rarely feel shame, and self-consciousness is not one of their traits. They have their own unique way of doing things.
Like Sagittarius 1, they also tend to restrict relationships to very close family members and friends. These individuals will be the ones who accept the quirkiness of the Sagittarius 2’s way of life. With any luck, these friends will act as a brake when Sagittarius 2 is drawn towards extreme activities, or groups that pose a danger to their well-being.
In love, they get their hearts broken more than once in their late teens and twenties. Unrequited love seems to be their thing. More mature Sagittarius 2s will be drawn to those with a similar outlook to their own. People who can accept them exactly as they are, with all their quirks and foibles. Often, initially, Sagittarius 2 will reject genuine love because they don’t trust that it’s real. Once over that stage, there is a danger that they will become clingy. Sagittarius 2 has to achieve a modicum of independence within the relationship in order not to drive their partner away.
Sagittarius 3 December 11—18
Sagittarius 3s think big. Not for them the small, petty details. They are expert at putting together big projects, including those that involve family and friends. Why put on a small dinner party when you could have a huge ball in a marquee? People who know and love Sagittarius 3 will learn to go along with them and accept that they will be dragged into the project.
One thing their friends have to take into consideration is 3’s tendency towards periods of depression. It’s a cycle that occurs regularly throughout their lives and they just have to get through it. Friends and lovers may do their best to cheer them up, but they must learn that it’s Sagittarius 3’s way of withdrawing and renewing their spirit. It’s essential to their well-being, however dark and despondent it looks from the outside. Additionally, Sagittarius 3 has to release inner tension and emotion by complaining. If they are forced to withhold, it can build up into a huge earthquake of emotional outpouring. You wouldn’t want to be there.
One thing that attracts Sagittarius 3 is magic, or a certain enchantment. Prospective partners who are able to present a little bit of magical mystery are those most likely to win the heart of Sagittarius 3. They like to feel protected and secure, but at the same time they must have the space to express their own creativity and individualism. Being in a long-term relationship with Sagittarius 3 is hard work but well worth it.
Next month, look out for Sagittarius—Capricorn Cusp where fire and earth come together.
