Today we have three new simple tarot spreads for your delectation. We’re taking inspiration from the celebratory Four of Wands so we have a wedding spread, a family gathering spread and a summer vacation spread. Each one consists of just four cards. They are all laid out as follows:
We’ll carry out our own example readings for these hypothetical situations. They will be short and sweet but you should get a good idea how these spreads work. Feel free to adapt the spread for your own special event, whether it be a party on the lawn or a carefree beach barbecue.
The tarot deck used for the sample readings is the wonderful, summery Renaissance Tarot Deck created by the late Brian Williams.
The Summer Wedding Tarot Spread
It depends what perspective you are coming from – you might be the mother of the bride hoping that all your hard work comes to a happy fruition, or you may be a prospective bride wondering if your summer wedding will be all that you hope for. Use this light-hearted tarot spread to find out if all will go as planned.
- Card one: Foundation – does this relationship have a strong foundation?
- Card two: Supports – will the happy couple have sufficient support?
- Card three: Canopy – will they shield each other from negative influences?
- Card four: Stage – will this day be a joyful and harmonious beginning?
1. Foundation – King of Cups
2. Supports – The Lovers
3. Canopy – High Priestess
4. Stage – Ace of Cups
The King of Cups tells us that, like the personality of this King, the foundations of the relationship are mature and emotionally stable.
The Lovers mirrors the deep love that acts as the supports for both bride and groom and indicates that they are no longer two separate entities but are made stronger through their union.
The High Priestess reflects the fact that each partner has a deep respect for each other’s spiritual side and that they will guard their partner’s vulnerable aspects.
The Ace of Cups shows that their love will permeate the wedding day and beyond. The wedding guests will feel the joy and warmth cascade over them. It will be a wonderful day to celebrate.
A Family Gathering Tarot Spread
Thinking of organizing a big family get-together? A summer barbecue perhaps? Wondering if this is a good idea, and if so, if it will be a memorably happy occasion? This tarot spread will give you the the lowdown on your summer family reunion.
- Card one: Format – party? Barbecue? Family road trip?
- Card two: Preparations – will it all go smoothly? Should you ask for help?
- Card three: Dynamics – will everyone get on and have a good time?
- Card four: Outcome – family will be happy and appreciative of all your efforts, won’t they?
1. Format: Three of Coins
2. Preparations: Nine of Coins
3. Dynamics: The Fool
4. Outcome: The Empress
The Three of Coins (Pentacles) indicates that this event should be organized by a team of people, rather than just one. Therefore, what kind of event it is to be should be decided by consensus.
The Nine of Coins carries that theme through and indicates that an all-hands-on-deck approach will work well during the preparations, and it’ll be more enjoyable if the load is spread. In fact the preparations are as joyful as the gathering itself.
The group dynamics are represented by the Fool, which encourages us to let go, to have fun, to live in the present and not to worry about the future. This will be a day where the attendees can cast their cares aside.
Your guests will appreciate this beautiful, bountiful day you have arranged for their benefit. They will see you as the catalyst that brought the family together for a memorable occasion. This is a day that will be spoken about for a long time.
Summer Vacation Tarot Spread
Booked a trip somewhere special? Could be a road trip, a cruise or you might be headed abroad to some exotic location. Need to know if anything will go wrong or what you need to prepare for? Check with the tarot before heading off.
- Card one: Setting off – preparations, precautions, anything you should know beforehand?
- Card two: Expectations – what are you hoping for on this vacation?
- Card three: Freedom – will you cast off the shackles of work, habit and conformity?
- Card four: Homecoming – coming home to roost, there’s no place like it?
1. Setting off: Eight of Wands
2. Expectations: Three of Cups
3. Freedom: Page of Coins
4. Homecoming: The World
The Eight of Wands is about organizing things quickly, so this vacation may be a last-minute booking, or you may have experienced delays in the preparations for the trip. It could be the pressure of work. Try not to work up till the last possible moment as it will add to the stress load.
The Three of Cups shows that you expect this vacation to be a time of laid-back celebration. You simply want this to be a relaxing fun time. It’s possible that you are undertaking a trip with your best friends.
The Page of Coins is an explorer. He would appreciate being allowed to roam, soaking up the sights and sounds of the unknown environment. Do what he encourages you to do – don’t just sit around the pool, go explore your surroundings. Take lots of photos.
When you get home, you will realize how glad you are to get there. You feel satisfied that, rather than just a run-of-the-mill vacation, you achieved one of your goals. Perhaps it was a dream holiday, something you have worked for and looked forward to for a long time. Take a day or two to relax, wind down and process all that you have experienced while away.
We hope you have enjoyed our simple tarot spreads, and that you find at least one of these happy events on your calendar this summer.
