Introduction
The devastation reflected in the Tower has wrought its worst. We have been to hell and back, but now the way is clear. Hope begins to blossom, and our hearts are filled with overwhelming love and gratitude for all that we still have. This is the realm of the Tarot card Star. Even if you haven’t been through a tough time, it is always a good idea to replenish your soul with Star energy.
Stars have always been a constant in human existence. The stars enabled people to navigate the seas, deserts, and wildernesses. Their very unchanging appearance (for all intents and purposes) gives us comfort in an ever-changing world.
This is a positive phase, and you are invited to rest awhile until you are healed and revived. This is a good opportunity to rebuild trust and renew your faith. Refresh yourself in the waters of the star-stream.
Stories
Stories of stars figure in many myths and legends, not least the bright, shining star that guided the three kings to the stable where Jesus was born. Our current pole star, Polaris, the North Star, has been revered almost as much as our own Sun. Polaris is our anchor point, the star that guides and reassures. Polaris has persuaded many a young explorer to set forth upon a wild adventure, happy in the knowledge that the North Star will see him (or her) home safely. Polaris is hope.
Polaris has had many names, including Stella Polaris, the Tyrian Cynosure, the Steering Star and the Chariot. It sits in the constellation of Ursa Minor, the Little Bear, and together this group of stars formed a welcome sight for any sailor lost at sea. It is said that these stars represent the Great Tree of Life. Ursa Minor has also been linked to the High Priestess of the Tarot. Zeus is said to have placed his favourite nurse, Cynosaura, within Ursa Minor, as she kept him safe as a child by clashing cymbals to disguise his whereabouts when his father Chronos was trying to kill him.*
General Meanings
When the Star is revealed in a tarot reading, you can breathe easy. Know that the pain is over, and you are on your way to recovery. The journey is not finished yet, but you now have the chance for a respite. Calm prevails while the seeker renews their connection to the Universe and All That Is. This is a good time to meditate, give thanks and show appreciation. More importantly, the time is right to demonstrate forgiveness toward anyone or anything that contributed to recent difficulties. This is not for their sake, but for your own.
Your soul cannot heal if you are still harboring resentment and distrust. You have to open your heart to allow the cleansing influence of the Star to wash through you and make you whole again.
The reversed Star could indicate a loss of faith. This means that you are becoming disillusioned with your current path. Don’t worry or over-think it, a way will soon make itself clear to you. The reversed Star is still positive.
Imagery
The Rider-Waite Star card is illustrated by a naked woman, kneeling on the bank of a stream. She has one knee on the bank while her weight is supported by her right foot in the water. Curiously, it appears that her foot is not submerged but resting on the surface of the water. She pours liquid from two vessels, one into the stream and one onto the grass behind her. There is a bird, an Ibis, roosting in the tree in the background. In the sky, one large star is surrounded by seven smaller ones.
Interpretations in Various Areas of Life
Work
Challenges dealt with; you are now entering a rewarding stage of your career. Your boss likes you, you may be in line for a promotion, and your ideas are met with approval. If you are looking for work, then the appearance of the Star either confirms that you will be offered a job soon, or other opportunities may make themselves known.
Look to be the best you can be. Build good relationships with co-workers and bosses. Create the career you want — your perfect job can be right here, right now.
Love
When you fill your heart with love, then all relationships improve. If you are open to a new relationship, then this is a good time to connect with someone. Initially, though, your priority is to love the person you have become. You have been through a transformative period in your life, and you are not quite the same person as you were before. So look into your heart, forgive yourself and feel the love of the Universe fill your being with light.
Finances
After a difficult time, finances should stabilize. Your income streams recover, and things are looking up. New opportunities will come your way, so use this time wisely to build up your resources. A gift of money may be made, either by or to you.
Health
The Star always gives hope, so tune-in to its positive energy. Connecting to the healing power of Source will speed up your recovery. Dip into the stream of well-being and feel your energy levels rise. Having complete faith in the body’s power to make itself well will take you a long way down the road to full health. An alternative medicine or treatment, alongside conventional medical care, could benefit you – look at Reiki, reflexology, hands-on healing and other ways of rejuvenation.
Spirituality
Now is the time to replenish your spirit. Meditate, relax, look up at the stars and feel your mind and body fill with universal power. Your intuition is reliable, so go with your gut feeling every time — it won’t let you down. Develop a spiritual path that is unique to you; one that lifts your whole self to a higher level of awareness that brings a deep inner peace.
