There is a major shift in the astrological winds this August — it’s almost impossible not to feel the power of it all. The cosmic pressure has been building and building since early last spring – and the energetic dam has finally burst. I know I’m feeling it — if you’re not, you’re probably not paying attention.
There’s good news to report too — I’m totally relieved that we’re in a whole new cycle this month with Jupiter, the planet of luck, finally in playful Leo after a year involved in the world-rocking “Cardinal Cross” aspect. That’s been rough! But the stress hasn’t totally lifted because Mars is feeling extra aggressive and empowered in his native Scorpio. He was super uncomfortable in Libra for the last 8 months, and now he seems to be sowing his oats, don’t you think? Right on the 1st, when Mars and Jupiter get into a big fight, it sets the stage for an intense month ahead.
Underlying all this stress on the personal front and the world stage, we get a little bit of relief from the sweetness of the lunar cycle. I’m so excited about the Full Moon in Aquarius on August 10th that I can hardly contain myself. Not just because it’s a Supermoon, making it as powerful as ten Full Moons in one, but because it’s going to bring some of the fun and release that we really need.
This Full Moon is in the sign of friends and groups — it’s begging us to take a respite from all the global angst and break out the grill – it’s one of those “You will get by with a little help from your friends” weekends.
Party time for us, Sherene?
Maybe it’s just because I have a pileup of planets in Scorpio in my natal horoscope, but I am not feeling the usual light-heartedness of the Leo season. I am hoping as we get closer to the Full Moon, we will feel the energetic shift and social energy back in full force.
It feels like we are all still coming off of the emotional hangover of the ongoing grand cardinal cross. Our relationships have really been pushed to their limits. There have been so many breaks, or breakups or breakthroughs depending on what is needed.
On a positive note, I heard a beautiful remake of that song “it’s gonna take a lot of love to change the way things are” last night and thought to myself, “yes, this is exactly what the energy is like right now. “ With Saturn in Scorpio meeting up with Mars this month, it’s still quite heavy and deep, but there is a tremendous opportunity to connect to our passions and resourcefulness. We are no longer sitting on the Mars in Libra fence wondering if we should commit or quit. Scorpio can be an, “all or nothing” energy and the square to Jupiter in Leo can exaggerate this tendency. We all need to be careful of this extreme and use the energy for transformation rather than destructive tendencies. Have you seen and felt this, Stef?
Oh, totally! I’m feeling completely pushed to tackle the most challenging creative problems, to face difficult issues with family and partners – it’s not one of those months where you can just relax and ride the waves.
But I do feel that the Full Moon in Aquarius will provide some lovely relief – that whole week, in fact, could be exactly what we need to decompress and realign. I’m going to start that process three days before the Full Moon hits on the 10th, and carry it though to the 13th, while it’s still super potent. The Aquarius lunation should be a lot more fun – putting an emphasis on freedom and eccentricity – than the New Moon at the end of the month. That one feels like the whispers of “back to school” to me – summer may not be officially over, but it will be waning for sure.
That’s why I’m stuck on getting my kicks while I can – during the week of the open-minded Full Moon in Aquarius. I’m putting a bunch of red heart emojis on my calendar between August 6th and 13th. What about you?
You’re right. The New Moon in Virgo always feels like the official end of summer— the “back to school,” “back to work” Moon. It’s important to get all of the vacay and leisure out of our systems before the 25th. Once the Virgo season officially kicks in, we’ll feel the pressure to work our to-do lists and get back into a schedule. This New Moon is also an excellent time to purge our closets and drawers and ask ourselves where we could streamline to make our lives simpler. Simplicity is key in this age of information overkill. Virgo is also the sign of solitude, so we might feel like retreating to a beautiful place in nature for our summer finale.
I know I am totally craving some time in the woods with a good book. The New Moon on the 25th is especially potent as Mars and Saturn are joining up in Scorpio on the same day. I can really feel how our commitment levels are begin totally tested. This fall is such a “make it or break it” time for us in so many ways. Both our work and relationship commitments are going to be tested. We can no longer be wishy-washy or we will feel the harsh gauntlet of Saturn smashing down on our lack of backbone. Integrity is also essential at this time as the mutual reception between Saturn in Scorpio and Pluto in Capricorn continues to work our need to do the right thing and take the higher road—always.
Have a great August, everyone!
