Virgo Characteristics

The Zodiac sign of Virgo applies to people born between August 23rd and September 22nd. However, we also like to look at the cusps – the short period of transitions between signs, so we’re starting a few days early. As always, we like to remind you to check your Moon and Ascendant signs as you may well have Virgo characteristics in your birth chart.

Leo – Virgo Cusp

August 19th to August 25th: Fire meets Earth, which makes for an interesting mix. This combination is quieter, more considered than the majority of Leo personalities, veering into reserved Virgo characteristics. Although they are as outgoing as other Leos, they tend to hide their inner extrovert. However, every now and then the lion must roar, and the extreme reaches of their personalities express themselves. As they get older, Leo – Virgo cuspers learn that they need to let their inner lion roam freely and not worry too much what others think.

The personality traits of Leo – Virgo are fascinating – they do have a tendency to play games; revealing partial facts, while hiding the full truth. Not because they are liars, but because it is in their nature to withhold the deeper parts of themselves until they feel they can trust someone. This is definitely a group which improves with maturity.

Trust is a huge issue with Leo – Virgos. They must trust their partner implicitly in that they are able to share their hopes and fears without any danger of ridicule. It’s likely that they will have one person in their life, not necessarily their spouse, to whom they can divulge all and not feel judged.

Virgo characteristics neat and tidy

Virgo 1

August 26th to September 2nd produces dependable people who value structure and order. Virgoans born in this week are quiet, reserved and caring. They are generally cooperative and are excellent team workers. Some suffer from resentment when others take advantage of their generous nature. Their strength lies in their powers of observation. This makes them ideal for careers such as journalism or report writing.

While not particularly outgoing, Virgo 1s do like to be discovered and appreciated. They’re not the sort who will loudly make their presence known, but being acknowledged is important to them. Occasionally, individuals who are able to objectively view the world around them have difficultly processing their own feelings. Their determination to stick to their singular worldview may cause problems when interacting with others who value flexibility and spontaneity. As parents they value a strict set of rules, and their insistence that they be followed to the letter may cause their older children to rebel. On the other hand, some born this week have a strict policy of ‘no rules’, again they adhere to this stricture without deviating. A no-rule rule.

Virgo 1s must choose their partners wisely.  It is best to avoid extreme personalities. They tend to attract needy people, who at first seem like the ideal subject for Virgo 1s to practice their caring nature. This is not a good match though, as sensitive Virgo will be eventually dragged down by negativity. They will be partly to blame for this as they often nurture weakness in others in order to make themselves feel wanted. They need someone who can balance their love of order with a measure of freedom and an easygoing attitude without taking excitement to exhausting levels.

Virgo 2

September 3rd through September 10th brings forth individuals who appear enigmatic and unfathomable. Virgo 2s are expert at hiding their true feelings. They rarely reveal what they are thinking and construct effective barriers against anyone who would try to analyze them. Virgo 2s believe that revelations of an inner nature opens them up to vulnerability. They value personal privacy above all.

Their positive Virgo characteristics include a gift for communication – they seem to be able to convey information so that others are able to understand complexities easily. Therefore they make excellent teachers and trainers. Virgo 2s have extremely high standards both in others and in themselves. They consider themselves to be arbiters of good taste and adore neatness. Slightly at odds with this is the fact that many have an amazing sense of humor and are able to laugh at themselves and their own idiosyncrasies. Occasionally, they will veer into sarcasm and bitterness.

Despite the barriers and complex defense systems, Virgo 2s love to love. This may not always express itself in marriage or a romantic relationship. Sometimes Virgo 2s are emotionally satisfied by a deep and rewarding friendship. Should they become sexually involved with a partner, then they are likely to have unusual preferences. They can maintain a healthy family life as long as they get plenty of time to themselves. Often Virgo 2s will forgo the whole relationship and family lifestyle in order to maintain their need for solitude.

Virgo characteristics

Virgo 3

September 11th to 18th is the week of realism. Virgo 3s are pragmatic and sensible. They come into their own around the age of 40 when they are likely to make a complete change of direction. While the traits of organization and rule-making carry over into this birth week, individuals reach a certain maturity that allows them to break away from their self-imposed restrictions. As will all Virgoans, this group loves and appreciates beauty, especially in nature. If you want to make them really happy give them a hand-made gift,

Individuals born in this week are very keen on getting their own way in all things. They are decisive and persistent, but their unshakable belief that they will reach their stated goals may result in a strange kind of procrastination. Like the rest of the Virgoan family they are able to keep a lid on any extreme expression of emotion and they would have to be furious and exasperated before showing any degree of anger.

Affection and caring are offset by high standards and expectations. Partners of Virgo 3s need to be confident and strong-minded in order to handle their demands. Once the structure of the relationship is formed, long-lasting, cooperative partnerships are very likely. Virgo 3s have enormous capacity to nurture and protect their children and loved ones. They are renowned for treating people equally – favoritism is not one of their failings.
